Steps To File A Sales Tax Return In Pakistan
Follow these simple steps to file Sales Tax Returns. You must consult a Tax lawyer before you file your returns to avoid any error in the record.
Get Yourself Registered With FBR
In order to file a sales tax return, you will first have to get yourself registered with FBR. For this purpose, you will have to fill out and submit a form named TRF 1 form, which you can easily get from your district FBR office. Just tell them to give you the TRF 1 form, and they will provide you a copy immediately.
Visit FBR Website
Once you are registered with FBR, they will provide you with a unique ID and login password. Use these credentials to log into your FBR portal on the official FBR website. You can land directly on their official website using the link: fbr.gov.pk/.
At the front of your screen, you will be displayed your business profile with all the relevant details stated very clearly. All the sales tax returns that you file in the future will appear on this screen.
Declaration
Now that you have logged into your portal, click on the tab saying “Declaration.”” On the next screen that loads, you will be displayed two tabs at the front, one saying “Tax Year” and the other saying “Tax Month.” Both these tabs will have a drop-down.
Click on the respective drop-down menus of each tab and select the year and the month for which you wish to file the returns. Once both the tabs are filled, click on the option saying ‘Search” to proceed further.
Submit Sales Invoices
In the resulting window, you will see a few options appearing on the left-hand side of the screen. Click on the one saying, “Annexure C.” From the resulting drop-down, click on the “Add Sale Invoice” option. A new screen will open up on which you can attach and submit all your monthly sales invoices.
Check Purchase Invoices
If your business has made any monthly purchases, they will all be reflected automatically on the FBR portal. You will just have to go back to the start of your portal screen and click on the Annexure A option appearing on the left side of the screen.
In the resulting screen, select the month of the invoices you want to see and click on the option saying “Find.” This will display all the purchases of the month on the screen. Once both the Annexures are finalized, submit them both.
Pay Sales Tax
Now that both the Annexures are submitted go to the eFBR website using the link e.fbr.gov.pk in order to create a PSID of the tax payable. Here, you will get two payment options. You can either pay online through your debit/credit card or pay physically at any NBP branch nearest to you.
Attach CPR
Once you make the payment of the sales tax, you will be provided with CPR. You will have to attach this CPR on your portal as proof that you have paid your tax. For this purpose, go to the FBR portal and click on the option saying “Draft.”
Scroll to the bottom of the Draft screen, where you will find an option saying “Feed CPR.” Click on this option and attach the CPR here.
After that, click on the option saying “Process and Submit”. The screen will take some time to load while it verifies your sales return at the backend. Once the loading is done, your return will be filed successfully.
